OurRPG DocsA handbook for test players and future authors

Docs

OurRPG is an AI-hosted online TRPG platform. Think of it as a tabletop you can open anytime: pick a scenario, build a character, write an action, and the AI GM keeps the world moving forward.

§ Current Status

Early Alpha

OurRPG is still in early alpha. The core loop already runs, but plenty is still rough — copy, pacing, the room experience, and scenario structure all keep changing.

Access is mostly through invite / verification codes for now. Hit a bug, get stuck, or feel a beat doesn't land? Tell us directly.

Rules Supported Today

  • DND 5e (simplified)
  • CoC / Call of Cthulhu 7th (simplified)

Simplified doesn’t mean stripped of flavor — we just keep the checks that suit online testing first. Open the cards below for details and differences.

Rule Support

What you can play now, and what's coming
Supported nowDND 5e (simplified)Built for fantasy adventure, class roles, combat, and exploration. For now it keeps the check skeleton you reach for most at the table.
  • Core roll: d20 + ability modifier + proficiency, against a target difficulty.
  • Character sheet: keeps the six ability scores, class leaning, skill proficiencies, hit points, armor class, and other essentials.
  • Handled now: ability checks, skill checks, attacks, and saves go through the AI GM's resolution.
  • Left out for now: spell slots, the full action economy, feats, subclasses, and complex conditions are not fully fleshed out yet.
  • Best for: dungeon delves, fantasy investigation, party teamwork, and adventure- or combat-leaning stories.
Supported nowCoC / Call of Cthulhu 7th (simplified)Built for investigation, horror, chasing clues, and sanity under pressure. For now it keeps the percentile-dice logic tables use most.
  • Core roll: roll d100 against a skill or stat — rolling at or under the target succeeds.
  • Character sheet: keeps investigator stats, skills, hit points, sanity, and key background.
  • Handled now: investigation-leaning checks like Spot Hidden, Listen, Psychology, Persuade, and Stealth go through resolution.
  • Left out for now: chases, the full bout-of-madness tables, improvement checks, complete combat rules, and large weapon tables.
  • Best for: folk-horror, locked-room investigation, missing-person cases, ritual mysteries, and stories that reveal information piece by piece.

What sets the two simplified rules apart?

Roll feel

DND 5e leans on d20 vs. a target difficulty; CoC 7th leans on d100 vs. a skill percentage.

Story mood

DND suits heroic adventure and combat teamwork; CoC suits investigation, horror, and dread of the unknown.

Character focus

DND is about ability scores, class, and party roles; CoC is about investigator skills, background, and shifting sanity.

On failure

DND tends to turn failure into tactical or resource pressure; CoC tends to turn it into a cost in clues, rising danger, or sanity strain.

Rules Coming Later

DND 5e (full)

Planned. Over time we’ll fill in the full action economy, spell slots, subclasses, feats, conditions, equipment, and richer encounter handling.

CoC 7th (full)

Planned. Over time we’ll fill in full combat, chases, Luck, bouts of madness, improvement checks, weapon tables, and finer investigator rules.

Testing Notesplayers / authors

For Test Players

Thanks for jumping into an early build. No formal report needed — when something feels off, confuses you, breaks, or turns out really fun, just tell us. That alone is valuable.

For Future Authors

Down the line OurRPG will open up scenario submissions / uploads. We’ll provide a writing guide covering public info, private clues, NPC motives, key props, and ending conditions — so the AI GM can host your story reliably.
